Found thanks to Lonely Planet, and WOW! If you are in the mood to try something different, tasty, spicy and share you food with your friends eating with fingers this is your place. You will not regret.

"An intimate and adventurous eating affair"

Addis in Cape specializes in Ethiopian cuisine, and is a great place to eat if you are in the mood for something different to the usual. I am vegetarian and I was spoiled for choice, they have loads of vegan options and lots of meat options too.

Ethiopian food is really fragrant and spicy without the burn. Your meal gets served on a woven basket-like table on a large communal plate which is lined with a pancake-like sourdough base. Because you share a plate I recommend that you go with people that you are comfortable with and that share the same dietary restrictions as you.

The decor is authentically Ethiopian and the staff is knowledgeable and helpful with explaining the menu. Ask for a seat at the window in summer because the restaurant gets hot and they don't have air conditioning. It is a lovely evening out and I can highly recommend eating here.

"First timer"

from Dublin, Ireland 5 STARS Reviewed January 23, 2012

It was our first Ethiopian dining experience and it was amazing. The food was so tasty and extremely filling, so much so we had to leave a little. The owner came to ask if everything was ok & we ended up chatting to her for half an hour. Lovely lady and the service was great. We asked her to come to Dublin and set up a place here!

"Fun and different dining experience"
from Paris, France 5 STARS Reviewed December 14, 2011

This Ethiopian restaurant offers a meat and vegetarian version of a delicious tasting menu that will be a unique and enjoyable experience, as you eat with your hands and soft rice flower crepes/flat bread that you scoop up the various dishes with. We loved the different way of eating and learning about a custom we were not familiar with. Highly recommended. Friendly wait staff.
